The Kelly-Strayhorn Theater

The Kelly-Strayhorn Theater offers a number of different rental plans, so that an organization or an individual can tailor the cost to the specific needs of the event.

Standard Rate and Non-Profit Rate:
Organizations who hold a Letter of Determination from the U.S. Internal Revenue Service as a Non-Profit Organization, or who are currently in application for Non-Profit status, may use the Kelly-Strayhorn at the Non-Profit Rate. All other users are assigned the Standard Rate.

Days of Use / Number of Performances:
Each "package" of consecutive days' usage carries with it a permitted number of performances that may be given as part of that package. Any performances in excess of the permitted number are charged at the rates shown in the table below. The total number of consecutive days that you use the Kelly-Strayhorn defines your Term of Engagement.

Liability Insurance:
All users must provide General Liability coverage with a Minimum Occurrence Limit and a General Aggregate of no less than $1,000,000 (One Million Dollars). For an established organization that already carries Liability insurance, this generally means simply having your broker or insurance company provide a Certificate of Insurance to the Kelly-Strayhorn. If you do not carry General Liability coverage, you may buy into the Kelly-Strayhorn Theater’s Tenant Liability Plan at the rates listed in the table below.

License Agreement:
Upon identifying available usage dates for your organization’s event, the Kelly-Strayhorn management will create a License Agreement, with all costs itemized. Two copies of the License Agreement will be sent to you, to be signed and returned along with deposit and insurance statement, by the due date listed in the Agreement. Upon the receipt of the signed License Agreement, the verification of your choice for Liability Insurance, and the clearing of the deposit payment, your copy of the License Agreement will be signed by the Kelly-Strayhorn and returned to you.

Special Usage Rates:
Your organization may qualify for the Meeting Rate or the Public Service Rate. Basic information is given in the table below. Please inquire as to whether your group fits the appropriate profile.

Special Usage Rates

Public Service Rate Under auspices of Kelly-Strayhorn’s Community Forum program	Free Usage*	Free Usage*
Bona-fide public service event, forum, meeting, or convocation. No admission may be charged. Event completely open to the public with no restrictions. No solicitation of contributions or donations, nor may any individual receive payments from attendees for any reason or purpose whatsoever (Example: author selling books and signing autographed copies.) Event may not be staged for the purpose of accruing business opportunities to the event sponsor. This rate is not available on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, or holidays.
