artSEEDS is an innovative, interactive education program of the Kelly Strayhorn Theater where middle and high school students engage with resident artists and educators to experience, discuss, and connect with the artists’ ideas, methods, and practices in the presented work.
artSEEDS artists are nationally- and internationally-recognized contemporary artists who are chosen for the high quality and contemporary relevance of their work, as well as their interest and involvement in sharing their work with young people.
During this one hour artSEEDS program, students and teachers experience a brilliant presentation, join in conversation with each other, and participate in the exploration of ideas and methods used in the work.
An artSEEDS study guide is available for each program. It contains concept ideas, background information, and history to the particular performer and work. Included are video-image links, relevant vocabulary words and pre-visit activities that can enhance further understanding of the artist, contemporary theater, performance, and the arts. Guides may be downloaded from the program pages below.
